Job Description
California State University Pomona welcomes a data driven Digital Marketing Analytics Specialist to join the Strategic Communications team on site in Pomona, CA. This role offers a competitive monthly salary range of USD 5,877 to 6,114, and requires four years of relevant experience with an equivalent bachelor’s degree. It is an opportunity to influence marketing performance through reporting, insights, and campaign optimization.
Responsibilities
- Create reports, dashboards, visualizations, analyses, and data driven recommendations for marketing analytics and market research projects using Google Analytics and Looker Studio.
- Design and implement an analytics reporting strategy that delivers regular and ad hoc reports for ongoing communications and individual campaigns.
- Contribute to the feedback loop by evaluating content performance and research findings, delivering data driven recommendations to guide future strategy and content decisions to boost performance and engagement.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of digital marketing communications campaigns.
- Establish consistent tracking, analysis, and reporting of KPIs for digital marketing strategies and tactics.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to set goals and KPIs.
- Ensure analytics tools, tracking systems, and data feeds are in place to measure performance accurately and promptly to support university needs.
- Act as the site tagging expert, including implementation and management through Google Tag Manager.
- Perform tagging audits and data integrity checks on a regular basis.
- Analyze metrics to identify key trends at regular intervals to inform campaign strategies and tactics.
- Work closely with the IT team to configure conversion goals and experiments in Google Analytics, manage UTM tracking, and analyze backend data for leading social platforms and email campaigns.
- Advise on best practices, strategies, and tactics in digital analytics and marketing research.
- Educate team members and stakeholders on the value of digital analytics through conversations, presentations, and data visualizations; collaborate with StratComm and other stakeholders to translate data into actionable ideas during planning and execution.
- Stay current with the latest tools and best practices in digital marketing and marketing research.
- Lead search engine marketing and pay per click efforts in collaboration with StratComm, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
- Thorough and advanced knowledge of marketing, branding, communications, public relations, and related roles.
- Strong familiarity with media outlets and the ability to plan coverage and publicity campaigns for the university and events.
- Ability to stay informed about campus events and current affairs to identify media opportunities that promote the university and increase positive coverage.
- Proven capacity to independently apply advanced judgment to create and implement strategies and initiatives.
- Experience developing and implementing campaigns with a track record of measurable results.
- Advanced analytical and organizational skills to manage initiatives within time and budget constraints.
- Ability to synthesize relevant facts and integrate them into communication materials.
- Strong storytelling and journalistic writing abilities, plus advanced editing skills.
- Knowledge of interview techniques and the ability to shape and deliver media messages.
- Working knowledge of marketing and research methods, with the ability to apply market research to identify communication needs and target audiences.
- Capability to apply appropriate statistical techniques to research efforts.
- Advanced public and internal relations skills to represent the university, collaborate with stakeholders, and manage vendor partnerships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to drive collaboration and change initiatives.
- Advanced mentoring or supervisory capabilities to oversee others when needed.
- Strong proficiency with technology and relevant event planning and management tools.
