Job Description

Food Finders Food Bank in Lafayette, Indiana is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications to shape how the organization is seen and understood across North Central Indiana. The role blends strategic brand leadership, compelling storytelling, media relations, and fundraising communications to advance the mission across a 16-county service area.

Responsibilities

  • Set the Vision for Brand & Voice: Define and lead a bold, cohesive communications strategy that advances the organization's mission and elevates its regional presence. As a brand steward, ensure every message, internal or external, reflects clarity, purpose, and impact while anticipating opportunities and guiding leadership through challenges.
  • Lead Storytelling that Inspires Action: Translate impact into authentic, human-centered narratives across channels including digital, social, publications, and campaigns to drive engagement, advocacy, and giving, while building systems for consistent storytelling across the organization.
  • Fuel Fundraising Through Strategic Communications: Collaborate with Development to craft messaging for donor campaigns, appeals, events, and stewardship; design experiences that deepen relationships and invite investment; elevate partnerships for visibility aligned with the mission.
  • Elevate Media Presence: Manage proactive media and public relations to expand influence, prepare leadership for high-impact moments, shape hunger-relief messaging, and navigate complex or sensitive communications with confidence.
  • Build & Inspire a High-Impact Team: Lead and develop the Marketing & Communications function, mentoring staff, fostering creativity and accountability, and managing partnerships and resources to deliver strategic outcomes.

Requirements

  • A deep belief in the power of mission-driven storytelling to drive meaningful change.
  • Strategic thinker who translates big ideas into clear, compelling messaging that inspires action.
  • Experience connecting communications to fundraising success and organizational growth.
  • Confident leader who develops people, builds trust, and drives cross-team collaboration.
  • Creativity paired with analytical thinking; using data and insight to strengthen approaches.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related fields.
  • 10 years of relevant work experience in marketing, communications, or external relations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting fundraising and development initiatives through communications.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience managing teams.
  • Food safety certification (provided upon hire).
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
