The Content Marketing Strategist role focuses on shaping content strategy, campaigns, and enablement initiatives through marketing technology to drive growth for Principal’s Benefits & Protection business. This Des Moines, IA based role operates in a hybrid environment, delivering clear, audience-centered content across multiple channels.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement content strategies aligned with business priorities, product initiatives, and audience engagement targets.
- Produce innovative content across brochures, presentations, websites, email, social media, mobile, and other digital channels.
- Translate complex business, financial, and technical concepts into clear, concise marketing messages.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand standards, marketing objectives, and audience needs.
- Write, edit, proofread, and provide feedback to maintain content quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with marketing colleagues and business stakeholders to plan and execute integrated campaigns across print and digital channels.
- Develop content and campaign tactics to generate awareness, drive engagement, create demand, and deliver positive customer experiences.
- Support campaign activation by delivering content that differentiates Principal products, services, and capabilities.
- Balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and business objectives.
- Serve as a key resource for the team’s content delivery technology, with emphasis on Seismic.
- Build, maintain, and optimize Seismic LiveDocs content to improve user experience and efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable, user-friendly content solutions that meet business needs.
- Utilize audience insights, market research, competitive intelligence, and performance data to guide content recommendations and strategy.
- Analyze content performance and campaign results to identify opportunities, measure effectiveness, and inform future actions.
- Operate within established marketing, compliance, and business processes while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Manage project workflows effectively using Wrike and coordinate with stakeholders across multiple teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four or more years of experience in content marketing, marketing communications, or content strategy.
- Proven ability to develop strategic content and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication abilities.
- Solid problem solving, project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong relationship-building, collaboration, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Experience using data and analytics to measure content performance and drive recommendations.
