Job Description

This role owns the US business across three German Shopify e-commerce brands (famwalls, heybalu, Bo & Birdie) and is performed 100% remotely, with periodic travel to our Düsseldorf office for onboarding and ongoing collaboration. Based in the United States, preferably in the San Francisco area, you will drive revenue, optimize the product assortment, and align cross‑functional efforts to win in the US market.

Responsibilities

  • Take full commercial ownership of the US across famwalls, heybalu, and Bo & Birdie
  • Drive revenue growth and improve conversion across the entire funnel
  • Expand and curate the US product assortment based on market insights
  • Identify occasions, gifting moments, and cultural nuances that resonate with American consumers
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Performance Marketing, CRM, and Shop Optimization teams across Germany, Vietnam, and Moldova
  • Serve as the central decision maker for all US market initiatives
  • Detect growth opportunities through competitive research and market analysis
  • Support the development of a US supplier and partner network

Requirements

  • Approximately 3 to 7 years of experience in e-commerce, ideally in a D2C environment
  • Direct commercial responsibility in a previous role (P&L ownership, revenue targets, or market-level KPIs, not just campaign execution)
  • Strong understanding of what drives conversion and revenue in online retail
  • Strategic thinker who is comfortable rolling up sleeves and executing hands-on
  • US native or deep, lived expertise in American consumer culture and the gifting calendar (Mother’s Day timing, graduation season, the holiday ramp-up)
  • Based in the US; regular visits to the Düsseldorf office during the first months
  • Fluent English is a must; German is a plus but not required

Technologies

  • Shopify

Benefits

  • Full commercial ownership of an entire market with direct impact on company growth
  • Opportunity to work directly with founders and the leadership team
  • 100% remote work
  • Regular on-site visits to our loft office in Düsseldorf (monthly in the first 3 months; travel covered)
  • Health benefits, meal allowance, and top hardware (MacBook, widescreen)
  • Team with a growth mindset and transparent, direct communication
  • Competitive compensation with variable pay tied to your KPIs
  • Dedicated onboarding buddy and full tool access from day one

About This Role

The US market is currently managed from Düsseldorf. We seek a US Market Manager who can take ownership of the American business across all three brands, focusing on commercial success, assortment strategy, occasions and gifting moments, revenue growth, and cross-functional coordination. This is not a pure shop management or CRO role; you will be responsible for the overall performance of the market and will coordinate with Product, Design, and Marketing teams to drive results.

To Be Direct About The Fit

  • If your background is primarily in B2B, wholesale, or marketplace management, this role may not be the right fit. We need hands-on D2C e-commerce experience.
  • If you are seeking a large team and a senior director or VP-level position, this is a hands-on builder role with a lean setup.
