Job Description
Flexible part-time role for a dog-loving team at Barkwells - The Dog Lovers' Vacation Retreat in Mills River, NC (hybrid). What you’ll be doing
- Own the social strategy that grows awareness of Barkwells and shows what a stay actually feels like.
- Publish at least 3 creative posts per week across Instagram, Facebook and other channels as they fit.
- Shoot and edit original video on property and around the area, with locally shot footage prioritized.
- Use AI tools to move faster and stay creative (ideas, editing, captions, and graphics).
- Engage with the community and monitor what’s working.
- Publish 1 value-driven post per week for dog owners, such as dog-friendly hikes and breweries, travel tips, seasonal safety, gear, and more.
- Write with search in mind while weaving in the Barkwells experience naturally.
- Create a monthly email guests look forward to opening.
- Ensure each email includes remaining Barkwells availability for the coming month, upcoming events in the Asheville–Hendersonville area, and a key feature of the Barkwells experience.
- Manage the email list and report on opens, clicks, and bookings.
- Bonus opportunity: If you know Meta Ads and Ads Manager, you can build and manage 13 campaigns that drive awareness and bookings for specific seasons, with reporting on results.
What you’ll bring
- 1–3+ years of hands-on social media or content marketing experience (professional, freelance, or a strong personal or school portfolio).
- A portfolio demonstrating short-form video you shot and edited yourself.
- A warm, engaging writing style for blogs, captions, and email.
- Comfort with tools including Canva, CapCut or Adobe Premiere, Hubspot, Meta Ads Manager, and AI creative tools.
