Job Description
The Marketing and Communications Specialist role at the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce in Austin, MN centers on member-centered storytelling, digital outreach, and event support to promote local businesses and advocate for the chamber's goals.
Responsibilities
- Produce on-brand content across social media, e newsletters, flyers, digital ads, the Chamber website, and print materials, handling writing and design tasks.
- Capture and edit short-form videos for social platforms that highlight members, events, or key initiatives.
- Design and execute marketing campaigns and themes for Chamber programs, member recognition, and events.
- Develop marketing toolkits and materials for members involved in sponsorships, events, or Chamber programs.
- Manage the weekly email communications program (eBlasts) and ensure timely delivery.
- Keep website content current with regular updates and improvements.
- Schedule, post, and respond to comments or messages on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Enhance online visibility through basic SEO practices and analytics tracking.
- Promote Chamber events such as Business After Hours, Ladies Night Out, Independence Day Parade, with clear messaging and lead time.
- Assist with event execution, photography, and post-event communications.
- Create signage, programs, and other marketing materials specific to events.
- Support additional Chamber programming and events as needed.
- Collaborate with Chamber staff and members to determine communication needs, priorities, and timelines.
- Support membership communications and retention efforts.
- Coordinate promotional needs related to advocacy, membership growth, member promotions, and sponsorships.
- Provide regular reporting of marketing metrics and offer guidance to expand reach and impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a communications, marketing, or social media role.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a conversational, engaging tone.
- Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools.
- Experience with email marketing platforms, Meta Business Suite, CapCut or equivalent video tools, and website CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, ChamberMaster, GrowthZone) preferred.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Schedule Requirements
