Job Description
The City of Grandview seeks a Marketing and Events Coordinator to support the Parks and Recreation Department's communications and events initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing communications strategies for internal and external special events, including festivals, fundraising campaigns, and community collaborations
- Coordinate booking, marketing and oversight of concerts and events at Grandview Amphitheater
- Develop community relationships to pursue future sponsorship opportunities
- Maintain the advertising and promotions calendar and support campaigns as assigned
- Help maintain and update content on City websites
- Produce social media content for Parks & Recreation channels and assist City channels as needed
- Design and produce promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, videos, direct mail, and related written content
- Collaborate with colleagues at all levels in a service oriented environment
- Capture photographs and video footage as required
- Collect and report metrics for email campaigns, social media, web leads, and other outreach efforts
- Support the live broadcast of City Board of Aldermen meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field with at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Advertising rights on Meta platforms
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop, organize, and coordinate a communications program
- Skill in gathering and verifying information through observation and research; ability to analyze problems, evaluate options, and make creative recommendations
- Ability to prepare presentations, reports, and other written materials in a timely manner; write and edit newsletters and news releases; prepare flyers and reports; edit materials for proper punctuation and grammar
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with City officials, employees, and the public; coordinate activities across divisions and departments
- Knowledge of photography, videography, and basic cable-casting concepts
- Knowledge of graphics and desktop publishing software
- Willingness to attend special City events and meetings, including weekends, evenings, and holidays

Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, or closely related field
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in Multimedia Communications or Marketing
- Graphic design experience is highly desirable
- Photography and videography experience is highly desirable
Physical Requirements
- Mobility to work in a standard office environment, use standard office equipment and attend off-site meetings
- Sit at a desk for extended periods; intermittently walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach while performing office duties
- Ability to perform event setup outdoors; lift and carry items up to 50 pounds or heavier with assistance and/or proper equipment; and walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach
- Manual dexterity to use standard office equipment and supplies
- Vision to read handwritten and printed material and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and by telephone
Work Environment
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to extreme temperatures during events and may involve walking on uneven or slippery surfaces
- Daily interaction with all department teams and the general public; occasional driving to attend meetings at City facilities, training sites, and events
Pay
$25.47 - $33.38 per hour
