Responsibilities

Identify in-person marketing opportunities that convert consumer interest into sales appointments
Pursue new retail locations, meet owners, and establish contacts for in-store and external setups
Collaborate with vendors to build relationships and negotiate contracts
Develop partnerships and sponsorships to enhance community presence
Track and document ROI for each event, home show, and retail location and maintain records
Coordinate displays, booths, signage, and other needs with appropriate teams
Manage contracts, venues, space, payments, setup, and teardown for every event
Collaborate across internal marketing functions to align needs
Utilize the Microsoft 365 Suite effectively
Develop and propose new strategies to attract consumers at events, retail locations, shows, and related activities
Set field appointments and collaborate with the team when available
Provide coverage for the Milwaukee Showroom during vacation periods of showroom administration

Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Ability and flexibility to work in the office primarily with travel to marketing destinations
Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office software
Ability to drive a company vehicle
Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods
Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time

Job Description

Schroeder Family Exploreum in Joplin, Missouri is seeking a Director of Development and Marketing to lead fundraising, donor relations, sponsorships, memberships, marketing, and public engagement in support of its mission. This onsite role blends development leadership with strategic communications to grow sustainable support and elevate the Exploreum’s community presence. The position offers a compensation range of USD 45,000 to 65,000 per year.

Fundraising and Development

Create and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with annual objectives and long-term goals.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
Oversee annual giving campaigns, major gift programs, sponsorship opportunities, and special fundraising initiatives.
Research, prepare, and manage grant applications and reporting for local, state, federal, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities.
Develop innovative fundraising initiatives and donor engagement opportunities to broaden philanthropic support.
Oversee donor recognition and stewardship activities that foster long-term engagement and retention.
Coordinate donor meetings, presentations, tours, and cultivation events.
Maintain accurate donor records and ensure timely acknowledgments, impact reporting, and ongoing communications.

Marketing and Communications

Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies to raise awareness, drive attendance and membership, boost fundraising support, and enhance community engagement.
Oversee advertising, public relations, media relations, social media, website content, and digital marketing efforts.
Manage promotional materials, campaigns, newsletters, donor communications, annual reports, and other marketing collateral.
Ensure consistency of branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communication channels.
Coordinate media opportunities, press releases, interviews, and community outreach efforts.

Community Engagement and Partnerships

Build and strengthen partnerships with businesses, schools, foundations, service organizations, and community leaders.
Support efforts to increase public awareness, donor engagement, and community enthusiasm for the Exploreum's mission and programs.
Assist the Executive Director and Board of Directors in developing strategic relationships that advance organizational goals.

Data Management, Reporting, and Administration

Maintain donor databases, sponsorship tracking, and marketing analytics.
Track fundraising and marketing performance metrics and prepare regular reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
Assist in developing and monitoring development and marketing budgets.
Evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns and marketing initiatives.
Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, grant requirements, donor confidentiality standards, and nonprofit best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission and growth.
