Job Description

Positioned onsite in Williston, Vermont, this Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for increasing hotel occupancy and average daily rate by directing revenue management, marketing initiatives, and guest services while maintaining Fairfield Inn by Marriott Burlington/Williston standards of guest care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead revenue generation for the hotel and pursue occupancy and ADR targets through integrated revenue management, marketing, and guest services strategies.
  • Aim to meet or exceed the hotel’s REVPAR budget.
  • Develop the hotel's Annual Marketing Plan.
  • Prepare a departmental budget that reflects the hotel’s business plan.
  • Forecast occupancy trends and steer selling activities to maximize revenue.
  • Identify demand segments, sources of business for each segment, and balance market mix based on supply and demand.
  • Identify key competitors for each market segment and leverage the hotel’s strengths against them.
  • Provide accurate occupancy forecasts that reflect market changes in supply and demand.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, credit terms, warranties, and delivery dates as required.
  • Support guest service as a driving hotel philosophy and respond to guest needs personally.
  • Collaborate with preferred accounts and group reservations.
  • Develop and implement the marketing and sales plan aligned with the hotel’s position and strengths in each market segment.
  • Plan and present proposals and maintain organized documents and reports.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows and promotional events to solicit new business.
  • Analyze competition strengths and weaknesses by market segment and direct marketing activities accordingly.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with key accounts.
  • Actively pursue room sales through outside calls, telemarketing, tours, and site inspections with prospective clients.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of hotel sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Overnight travel is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, coworkers, vendors, and customers.
  • Completion of a hotel sales training program and familiarity with hotel computer systems and sales techniques.
