Area Marketing Manager - Temporary
Job Description
This temporary Area Marketing Manager will implement annual local marketing and public relations plans across three Hyatt properties to drive revenue, market share, and brand awareness. The position is onsite in San Diego, California.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the yearly local marketing budgets and the strategic planning process through the Local Marketing Tactic System.
- Hold regular meetings with the Area Director of Marketing and each Director of Sales & Marketing to stay aligned with evolving business needs and adjust tactics as needed.
- Implement the local marketing plan and serve as the primary contact with supporting agencies when applicable.
- Collaborate with hotel strategy teams to identify key dates and revenue opportunities.
- Coordinate print and digital advertising opportunities with approved corporate vendors.
- Supervise and produce marketing materials, promotions, and internal communications to ensure alignment with objectives and brand standards.
- Develop and manage assets within Hyatt Brand Manager for photography and print and digital collateral such as rack cards, sales kits, iSalesKit, e-Brochures, posters, and in-room promotions.
- Execute corporate marketing initiatives at the local level and provide formal results summaries to corporate counterparts.
- Maintain graphic standards and integrity for all print ads and promotional materials distributed internally and externally.
- Participate in brand training and development sessions.
- Establish relationships with local, regional, and national media, in coordination with the PR agency when applicable.
- Review and approve hotel press releases with the Area Director of Marketing.
- Coordinate proactive and reactive onsite press visits in association with the PR agency when applicable.
- Evaluate promotional opportunities and develop promotions and partnerships to meet marketing and revenue objectives.
- Plan, coordinate, and publicize special events to generate positive awareness and support revenue goals, including festive holiday programming and low-demand periods.
- Manage on-property filming requests, including establishing location fee schedules and evaluating value of requests.
- Develop, coordinate, execute, and maintain a social media plan for platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, in collaboration with the agency when applicable.
- Foster influencer relationships to support key initiatives and promote the hotel.
- Maintain a marketing calendar of events and initiatives across all three hotels.
- Assist the Area Marketing Director with monthly recap slides of social media and influencer activities.
- Maintain all hotel and outlet website content, including menus, photography, hours, and copy.
- Coordinate and oversee vendors such as photographers, graphic designers, videographers, media, and website development agencies.
Requirements
- Self-starter with leadership abilities and a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Creative, organized, and with strong business acumen.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with effective communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in budget management and expense processing.
- Proven quantitative analytical skills.
- A four-year college degree, preferably in Marketing, PR, or Communications.
- Minimum two years of marketing experience, hospitality experience preferred.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge of marketing principles and the strategic planning process.
- Experience with social media content creation.
- Strong design skills and ability to use Canva.
- Photography skills preferred.
- Experience with Squarespace preferred.

Salary
The salary range for this position is $72,800 to $91,500 per year. This is described as an hourly manager role, and pay decisions will consider factors such as experience and education.
