Job Description

The Marketing and Communications Director for the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics oversees the institution's marketing and communications strategy from an onsite location in Darlington County, South Carolina. This role leads branding, media planning, budgeting, staff supervision, and crisis communications, reporting directly to the Vice President of Enrollment Management. The position offers a salary range of $66,400 to $119,500 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy in close collaboration with the Vice President of Enrollment Management, delivering timely and impactful information and marketing across multiple channels.
  • Oversee marketing and branding efforts, coordinating all agency communications, publications (traditional and digital), social media, graphic design, and branding to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness; propose media buys to elevate brand awareness and market reach with institutional approval.
  • Manage the public information budget using a data-informed approach; continually refine the marketing and communications plan and provide regular ROI updates on media investments to GSSM leadership.
  • Supervise, coach, and direct communications staff to implement the strategy for internal and external audiences regarding information delivery, educational programs, and marketing initiatives.
  • In partnership with GSSM leadership, establish and maintain a crisis communications plan, deploying updates as needed to sustain readiness and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and relevant experience.
