Job Description

The Director of Marketing and Community Engagement will lead the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism in shaping the organization’s marketing, communications, digital presence, and community outreach. This role works to promote chamber members, cultivate partnerships, coordinate events, and advance workforce attraction initiatives, all while ensuring a consistent, compelling narrative for the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the Chamber’s mission and goals
  • Manage all Chamber communications including email campaigns, newsletters, press releases, and publications
  • Oversee brand standards and ensure consistency across all platforms
  • Serve as the primary storyteller for the Chamber, its members, and community partners
  • Manage and grow the Chamber’s social media presence
  • Maintain and update the Chamber website with relevant content
  • Analyze digital performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Develop content that highlights member businesses, events, and community impact
  • Create opportunities to promote Chamber members through campaigns, spotlights, and partnerships
  • Work directly with Chamber members to enhance their marketing visibility
  • Collaborate with local businesses to amplify engagement and participation
  • Support membership growth and retention through targeted marketing initiatives
  • Develop and lead marketing initiatives aimed at attracting new residents, workforce talent, and entrepreneurs
  • Promote quality of life, business opportunities, and regional assets through targeted campaigns
  • Partner with employers, economic development organizations, and community groups to align messaging
  • Execute marketing services and deliverables outlined in formal partnerships and MOUs (e.g., tourism, school district, downtown initiatives)
  • Coordinate with partner organizations to establish priorities, timelines, and approvals
  • Ensure all work aligns with defined scopes, service levels, and Chamber capacity
  • Track and manage service hours and deliverables where applicable
  • Prepare and present regular reports to partner organizations as required (e.g., quarterly reporting)
  • Maintain clear communication with partners to manage expectations and prevent scope creep
  • Promote Chamber events including networking, programs, and community initiatives
  • Assist with event planning, branding, and on-site engagement
  • Strengthen relationships with community partners, media, and stakeholders
  • Act as a liaison to local media and coordinate press coverage
  • Identify opportunities to elevate the Chamber’s public presence
  • Support coordinated messaging across Chamber initiatives and partner campaigns
  • Assist with crisis communications when necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related role
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and content creation skills
  • Experience with social media management and digital marketing tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholder expectations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships in the community
  • Experience with Wordpress, Canva, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok

Compensation

Salary: USD 60,000 - 65,000 per year

Location: Park Rapids, MN (onsite)

Work arrangement: In person
