Job Description

The Director of Marketing, Design & Communications leads FPSA's integrated marketing, design, and communications efforts to grow the organization and strengthen its brand in the food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead comprehensive marketing and communications strategies for FPSA products, services, events, and initiatives, with agility to scale as the organization grows.
  • Support the creation, promotion, and distribution of targeted membership messaging and promotional content.
  • Drive member recruitment, renewal, and engagement campaigns to sustain and expand the FPSA community.
  • Plan, design and execute marketing campaigns in collaboration with other teams to boost event attendance and event revenue.
  • Create weekly and annual marketing calendars to drive engagement across FPSA channels.
  • Write, design and edit multi channel marketing content including emails, social posts, paid advertising, videos, and web copy.
  • Design and update print and digital collateral such as one-pagers, graphics, web banners, branding kits, and event materials.
  • Ensure brand compliance, accessibility, and consistent look and feel across all designs.
  • Collaborate with team members to translate project requirements into deliverables aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop visual concepts using software to communicate ideas that inform, inspire, and engage members.
  • Present designs to stakeholders and incorporate feedback into final products.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and software to keep design practices innovative.
  • Integrate video elements to augment or replace written communications where appropriate; produce and edit video content for social channels and the resource library.
  • Maintain and update FPSA and FIT websites to ensure timely, accurate information for members and prospects; create engaging web pages.
  • Leverage internal and external analytics tools to track engagement, click rates, and trends; map performance metrics.
  • Track, analyze, and adjust campaigns based on data; present insights to improve ROI and identify cross promotion opportunities and ad placements.
  • Conduct ongoing research to inform targeting, messaging, and product development strategies.
  • Support efforts to grow the organization’s database year over year.
  • Create and manage budgets for marketing and communications activities, including forecasting and performance tracking.
  • Assist in database management and hygiene to maintain data quality.
  • Ensure performance data is updated weekly for all staff meetings.
  • Execute processes and reviews required for FPSA billing and accounting functions as needed.
  • Oversee and lead new programs or projects in this area of operations as required.
  • Manage the Marketing & Communications summer intern and related learning opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HubSpot and Constant Contact.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with on site presence in McLean, VA Monday through Thursday and remote Fridays.
  • Report to the Vice President of Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, design, or communications.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and Canva.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, specifically Constant Contact.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, Snapchat) and social media management tools.
  • Website management and content management system experience, preferably HubSpot.
  • Video editing capabilities.
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive communication with the ability to keep stakeholders informed of status, challenges, and needs.
  • Accountability and ownership; willingness to own responsibilities and implement solutions.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and ability to incorporate it into work.
  • Self-direction with the ability to function as a one person department while maintaining collaboration.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and organizational needs.
  • Strategic thinking to align marketing efforts with organizational goals and member needs.
  • Proficiency with required technology: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Constant Contact, HubSpot, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with video editing and social platforms.
