Job Description

The City of Richardson, TX invites applications for a full-time Digital Marketing & Website Administrator to support social media and digital content strategies for retail destinations in The CORE District and at Sherrill Park Golf Course. The role emphasizes maintaining and optimizing the City's online content with a focus on CMS/WordPress, accessibility, SEO, and user experience, with on-site work in Richardson, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end digital content strategies, from concept through production, publication, and performance analysis, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Create original, engaging content tailored to retail audiences, including social posts, stories, short videos, and graphics.
  • Plan and manage content calendars aligned with events, holidays, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Conduct on-site visits to capture photos, videos, or interviews as needed.
  • Write captions and copy that maintain brand voice, include clear calls to action, and ensure correct spelling and grammar.
  • Monitor platform trends and best practices in formats such as Reels, hashtags, and visual styles.
  • Propose creative concepts to communications or external teams and participate in brainstorming sessions.
  • Utilize Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, and similar tools to produce polished visuals.
  • Track and analyze content performance to inform future planning.
  • Maintain, update, and optimize content on WordPress or other CMS platforms, ensuring mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and SEO readiness.
  • Implement basic design adjustments using HTML and CSS.
  • Assist in creating landing pages for events, seasonal promotions, and tenant campaigns.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure branding consistency across platforms.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in public affairs, public relations, journalism, or another mass communications field.
  • Experience with CMS web editing and/or HTML/CSS, video editing, photography, and story research.
  • Proficiency in business email communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in small teams to meet deadlines.
  • Professional and courteous communication with internal staff, officials, and the public.
  • Experience conducting one-on-one information gathering and collaboration with diverse individuals.
  • Strong command of English with the ability to write and edit own work and that of others, including proofreading.
  • Ability to maintain focus across all assigned activities.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
