Job Description

Based onsite at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area, this full-time Content Marketing Specialist role is anchored in Olathe, Kansas. The position centers on developing original blog content, refining it for search performance, and leading cross-department campaigns that align with Garmin's marketing objectives. It provides an opportunity to shape Garmin's storytelling for both new and existing customers while coordinating with multiple teams to maximize readership.

Responsibilities

  • Create fresh, compelling blog concepts aimed at engaging both new and existing Garmin customers
  • Manage a story from idea to publication independently, including research, producing copy, and guiding it through edits and approvals to publish, while coordinating with other teams to maximize promotion and readership
  • Apply deep knowledge of Garmin's business segments and marketing goals to independently select topics that attract readers
  • Evaluate content and craft optimization plans to improve performance in search engines such as Google
  • Serve as a Garmin reporter, interviewing internal and external sources, pursuing leads, and shaping stories in AP style
  • Oversee the Garmin.com blog content library to keep material accurate, timely, relevant, and aligned with current marketing objectives, using independent judgment to review, action plans, and edit or remove content as needed
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and execute integrated content campaigns spanning blog, PR, social, and email blasts as assigned
  • Handle several time-sensitive projects at once, prioritizing tasks and triaging urgent matters with minimal supervision
  • Fulfill additional Garmin.com duties as assigned by the Content Marketing Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated professional experience as a journalist, communications strategist, marketing specialist, writer, or content curator
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to write and edit both long-form and short-form content
  • Solid understanding of content marketing strategy and its implementation
  • Experience optimizing content with SEO practices and Google Analytics insights
  • Strong enthusiasm for Garmin business and products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sprinklr, WordPress or other content management software
  • Understanding of web publishing requirements
  • Editorial mindset with the ability to predict audience preferences
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
  • Portfolio demonstrating creativity and the ability to write for traditional media outlets and digital platforms
  • Comfort discussing and developing big-picture content strategy and the ability to translate complex information into clear articles or long-form content
