Senior Manager, Content Marketing
Job Description
Cogent Security is hiring a Senior Manager of Content Marketing to lead a writing-heavy program built for security practitioners and the buyers who support their decisions. The role blends editorial production with social and video execution, while owning SEO and AEO so content is discoverable in search, AI answers, and social.
This is an execution-focused position that requires technical accuracy, fast turnaround when security news breaks, and the ability to turn research into campaigns without slowing down.
What you’ll do
- Write blog posts, whitepapers, and ebooks that build awareness and engage buyers throughout the buying journey for security practitioners.
- Interview Cogent’s researchers, engineers, and field team to gather raw material and ensure every technical detail is correct.
- Respond quickly to security news by drafting and shipping POV pieces while the story still matters.
- Own Cogent’s social strategy, including recurring series such as weekly VM insights, AI security myths, and remediation playbooks.
- Write scripts for short videos and explainers, collaborating with contractors who shoot and edit the content.
- Run the SEO and AEO program: research what buyers search for and what they ask AI tools, then structure each piece to improve rankings and citations.
- Monitor performance in search and AI answers, refreshing content that slips over time.
- Partner with the research team on Cogent’s flagship research report: explore the data, shape the findings into a narrative, and write the report.
- Project manage the report through launch, then create derivative content including a blog series, social posts, short video, and sales assets.
- Repurpose top material from Cogent’s library, including research, product insight, and customer stories, to reach new audiences.
- Use AI across the workflow (research synthesis, drafting, editing, and repurposing) to maintain accuracy and brand voice while moving at a small-team pace.
- Build systems that speed up production, such as prompt libraries, voice guides, and a living archive of positioning, proof, and research.
What you bring
- 5-7 years in B2B content roles, with at least three years writing for security practitioners and buyers.
- Excellent writing and editorial judgment.
- The ability to explain complex security topics clearly and credibly.
- A demonstrated history of content performance, including organic traffic and rankings, citations in AI answers, social engagement, and downloads of long-form assets.
- Hands-on SEO and AEO experience using tools such as Semrush, GA4, Profound, and AirOps.
- Experience shipping content on your own at a fast-moving organization with limited overhead.
- Fluency with AI in practice, including the ability to explain a content workflow you built, where it broke down, and what you changed.
Tools
- ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude
- Semrush, GA4, Profound, AirOps
Nice to have
- Experience writing about vulnerability management, exposure management (CTEM), AppSec, cloud security, or AI in security operations.
- Experience writing or project managing a research report (threat report, benchmark, or survey) and turning it into campaign-ready derivative content.
- Production capability beyond writing, including short video or explainers, visual assets, or directing contractors for video execution.
- Experience growing a practitioner audience on LinkedIn.
