Job Description

Join a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to advancing organ, tissue, and cornea donation. In this onsite role in Pittsburgh, you will bolster CORE's communications, creative work, media relations, and partnerships, helping to raise visibility, inform audiences, and amplify impact through compelling content and coordinated campaigns.

This onsite position supports CORE’s mission and campaigns, with opportunities to influence communications and outreach across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead creation and distribution of newsletters, publications, web content, social posts, brochures, posters, educational materials, presentations, collateral, and other communications for public and professional audiences.
  • Produce engaging visuals and copy that reinforce CORE's brand and support marketing objectives across digital, print, and multimedia formats.
  • Gather and highlight stories, photos, and videos from donor families, transplant recipients, volunteers, community partners, staff, and the impact of donation and transplantation.
  • Maintain brand standards and ensure consistent messaging and cohesive visual identity across all materials and channels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop creative assets that support campaigns, events, educational initiatives, and organizational goals.
  • Assist in shaping public relations strategies, communications plans, and media outreach that align with CORE's mission and key initiatives.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, statements, and other external communications.
  • Support media relations by coordinating opportunities, preparing materials, handling inquiries, and nurturing relationships with reporters, influencers, and community leaders.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment; help craft responses to inquiries or concerns as directed.
  • Support internal communications to boost employee engagement and awareness of priorities, programs, and accomplishments.
  • Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns, donor designation initiatives, community outreach, and organizational events.
  • Develop branded collateral, messaging, and communication strategies that back CORE programs and campaigns.
  • Ensure consistent branding across all channels and activities.
  • Identify and nurture strategic partnerships to broaden awareness, deepen community engagement, and advance donor designation goals.
  • Provide communications support and guidance to maximize partnership engagement and impact.
  • Collaborate with partners to raise awareness of organ, tissue, and cornea donation and expand donor designation opportunities within CORE's service area.
  • Develop tools to evaluate the effectiveness of communications, campaigns, partnerships, programs, materials, and events, and implement improvements.
  • Track performance, public perception, and engagement metrics; deliver reports and recommendations to support ongoing improvement.
  • Assist with budget planning, tracking, and adherence to departmental guidelines.
  • Work with the Director of Public Affairs, Donor Family Services, Community Outreach staff, and other teams to support cross-functional priorities.
  • Support responses to inquiries, concerns, and stakeholder needs as directed.
  • Take on additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Maintain professionalism and teamwork while upholding CORE's mission and values as a positive ambassador.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, creative development, or a related area, preferably in healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in content development, creative project management, brand management, and multimedia communications across print, digital, social, video, and web.
  • Experience in graphic design, photography, videography, website management, and social media management is preferred.
  • Solid analytical, creative, organizational, and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing strategic communications materials and coordinating projects with internal stakeholders and external partners is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license; regular travel throughout CORE’s service area, occasional overnight travel, evening and weekend work, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • A commitment to professionalism, sound judgment, a strong work ethic, and the mission of CORE and its organ, tissue, and cornea donation work.
