Manager Marketing Operations
Job Description
Simple Science Inc., based in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking a Manager of Marketing Operations to oversee the end-to-end delivery of experiential marketing programs. This role operates onsite in Southern California and reports directly to the VP of Marketing, translating brand experience strategies into precise day-to-day execution as an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
- Own the full project lifecycle for assigned client programs, establishing and maintaining detailed timelines, budgets, resource plans, deliverables, and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate day-to-day client deliverables, asset management, version control, approval workflows, and status reporting.
- Foster seamless cross-functional collaboration with A/V, creative design, graphic design, video production, social/digital, and other internal teams.
- Serve as the primary operational touchpoint for clients on assigned accounts and programs.
- Identify potential issues early, guard against misalignment with strategy and scope creep, and apply problem-solving to keep initiatives on track.
- Monitor progress, surface issues proactively, and implement solutions to maintain project momentum.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager, Marketing Operations to balance workload, set priorities, and provide execution support.
- Execute operational tasks with precision while maintaining alignment with the strategic vision set by the Director of Brand Experience and Senior Brand Experience Managers.
- Lead internal status meetings, client update calls, and cross-team alignment sessions.
- Support on-site event production and logistics as needed for assigned programs.
- Leverage and refine standardized templates, workflows, and project management best practices.
- Contribute ideas to operational improvements and efficiency initiatives.
- Assist with onboarding and rotational development of Marketing Associates by sharing guidance on tasks and best practices.
- Provide accurate timelines, resource estimates, and feasibility input during proposal development and scoping.
- Participate in internal proposal reviews and pitch preparation as required.
- Capture post-project learnings and relay operational insights back to strategy leads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Project Management, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in marketing operations, project management, or experiential/event marketing within an agency or client-services environment.
- Proven success managing complex, multi-channel programs with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management platforms (Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, etc.) and collaboration tools.
- PMP or similar certification is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while juggling multiple projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal teams.
- Calm, solutions-focused mindset under pressure.
- Willingness to support occasional on-site activations or client meetings (up to 20% travel/on-site) and flexibility during peak periods.
