MGA Entertainment is seeking a Creative Director to lead visual brand storytelling and integrated marketing campaign creative execution for boys’ action brands and collectibles.
Responsibilities
- Lead integrated creative development from concept through execution for 360-degree campaigns, product launches, brand initiatives, and seasonal promotions across Armorsaurs, CarTuned, Tataba, and Hyojo
- Translate strategy into storytelling: develop concepts, campaign narratives, and visual direction that communicate product benefits, support business goals, and reinforce brand positioning
- Champion trend-driven collectibles by turning emerging aesthetics, collector behaviors, and cultural movements into distinct campaign work
- Apply action and collectibles expertise across action figures, vehicles, transformation, character design, imaginative play, collecting, and fandom to resonate with kids, adult fans, and collectors
- Use sports and fan insights to inform relevant creative opportunities across teams, athletes, and fan communities
- Direct sets and visual storytelling: define the creative vision for photography and video shoots, including mood boards, storyboards, environments, props, lighting, scale, and composition
- Partner with Product Development to understand play features, mechanisms, materials, finishes, character details, and assortment stories
- Collaborate with Brand, PR, and Influencer teams on teasers, reveals, unboxing content, creator collaborations, and launch storytelling that support discovery, sharing, and collecting
- Lead multidisciplinary teams (designers, copywriters, producers, content creators) through clear direction, constructive feedback, and high standards for craft
- Drive cross-team collaboration with Brand, PR, Product Development, Operations, and Retail to align creative strategy, product priorities, launch timing, and execution
- Create platform-native content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms, plus assets for broadcast, email, print, retail, and e-commerce
- Extend brands into experiences including creative for trade shows, retail displays, sizzle reels, influencer kits, product reveals, fan events, experiential activations, and other touchpoints
- Protect and evolve brand identity across brands while introducing fresh, culturally relevant creative expression
- Manage creative delivery: develop briefs, define scopes and timelines, direct freelancers and agency partners, and coordinate with production and project management to meet budgets and deadlines
- Track and turn trends and insights into action across designer toys, art, fashion, streetwear, sports, gaming, entertainment, vehicle culture, and collector communities
Requirements
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in creative marketing, art direction, graphic design, or brand development; includes at least 3 years in a creative leadership role
- Strong portfolio showing integrated campaigns, visual storytelling, hands-on design expertise, and photography or video art direction
- Demonstrated experience in collectibles and adjacent categories such as designer toys, action toys, vehicles, entertainment, fashion, streetwear, and sports
- Deep understanding of trend-driven collectibles and collector communities, with ability to translate cultural insights and emerging aesthetics into campaigns
- Strong knowledge of sports and sports culture, with the ability to identify relevant creative opportunities across action brands, vehicles, and collectibles
- Experience creating creative for product drops, character or series launches, reveals, and community-focused brand initiatives
- Proven ability to connect brand strategy and product innovation to compelling creative across multiple channels
- Experience directing photo and video shoots, including set concepts, storyboards, lighting, composition, scale, and product demonstrations
- Experience partnering with motion graphics, animation, CGI, or visual effects teams to enhance product storytelling
- Track record leading and developing multidisciplinary creative teams and managing projects from brief through delivery
- Ability to build cross-functional partnerships and align creative with product, marketing, operational, and retail priorities
