Job Description

The Marketing Content Strategist role at Southern Wesleyan University focuses on developing, producing, and managing recruitment, advancement, and engagement content, including brand storytelling and multi-channel campaigns that advance the university’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Implement content marketing strategies aligned with recruitment goals, collaborating with the Associate Director of Marketing and serving the university-wide communications.
  • Create brand messaging and storytelling initiatives.
  • Convert academic programs, student experiences, and institutional strengths into compelling content distributed across email, websites, social media, Slate, digital advertising, and print.
  • Ensure uniform messaging across all channels.
  • Email marketing campaigns.
  • Social media content creation.
  • Recruitment and donor-facing publications.
  • Print collateral development.
  • Web content management.
  • Photography projects.
  • Video content production.
  • Digital advertising creative development.
  • Draft and edit enrollment and advancement marketing copy for multiple audiences.
  • Coordinate publishing schedules across social platforms.
  • Oversee content assets and creative production workflows.
  • Maintain content calendars and production timelines in partnership with the Associate Director of Marketing.
  • Ensure all content aligns with university brand standards and enrollment and advancement priorities.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Advancement, Academic Programs, and Student Life to source stories and content.
  • Coordinate photographers, videographers, freelancers, student workers, and other vendors in collaboration with the Associate Director of Marketing.
  • Assist in developing campaign creative concepts and messaging.
  • Analyze content engagement metrics and campaign performance.
  • Recommend content improvements based on audience response.
  • Perform A/B testing of messaging and creative assets.
  • Optimize content for engagement and conversion goals.

Requirements

  • Three to five years in marketing, communications, content creation, or digital media.
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and content development abilities.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video production, and social media platforms.
  • Understanding of higher education marketing and recruitment communications.
  • Portfolio demonstrating successful marketing campaigns and content creation.
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics GA4, Google Tag Manager, and digital reporting tools.
  • Experience with Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Monday.com and Slate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities to craft meaningful content.
  • Ability to manage evolving deadlines in a dynamic content environment.
  • Customer service mindset and relationship-building abilities.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Adaptability to capitalize on current trends in communication.
