Marketing Cloud Engineer
Job Description
Lead Marketing Cloud engineering across email, web communications, digital automation, and e-commerce support for UF Advancement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in administering UF Advancement’s Marketing Cloud instance, including setup, maintenance, and account/access management.
- Act as a resource for Marketing Cloud expertise, partnering with Communications and other UFA units on platform initiatives.
- Develop, test, and implement Marketing Cloud solutions aligned to project requirements, with attention to quality and consistency.
- Maintain Marketing Cloud data integrity and manage data extensions for marketing and communication needs.
- Monitor email deliverability and help ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM and other applicable legal requirements.
- Build and maintain automations, journeys, and personalization using AMPscript and related tools to improve email campaigns.
- Support management of existing and future Marketing Cloud subsystems, including Marketing Cloud Intelligence, Distributed Marketing, and Interaction Studio.
- Ensure Marketing Cloud operations align with UFA/UF requirements and industry best practices.
- Assist with e-commerce platform management, including the online giving system, digital event marketing tools, and auction solutions.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for e-commerce systems, including the UF Foundation’s credit card gateway (currently CyberSource).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve e-commerce strategies with focus on donor experience, conversion rates, and reducing cart abandonment.
- Partner with the Director of E-Commerce to evaluate new or enhanced e-commerce solutions to meet organizational goals.
- Create and maintain automated data integrations between Marketing Cloud and other platforms, including CRM, online giving, and web applications.
- Design and optimize Marketing Cloud journeys to deliver strategic donor touchpoints and consistent engagement.
- Analyze and report on campaign performance using Marketing Cloud Intelligence and Google Analytics.
- Develop custom coding solutions to enhance automation and personalization in email marketing.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to strengthen digital engagement strategies.
- Support administration of UF Advancement web presences, including CMS management, backend configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in maintaining on-premises web environments, supporting security and stability.
- Partner with teams to improve digital content delivery and overall website performance.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development Information Systems to ensure digital platforms meet organizational needs.
- Support web security initiatives across UFF/UFAA properties, including auditing and compliance monitoring.
- Liaise with UFIT and other teams to manage SSL certificates and implement secure practices.
- Ensure compliance with PCI DSS standards and organizational policies related to web and email security.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area.
- Two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Preferred
- Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field with writing abilities.
- Five years of experience producing and directing digital communications, including supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of content development, information technology and architecture, site design, search-engine optimization, and web analytics.
- Prior experience in communications in development, fundraising, higher education, or related areas, including knowledge of advancement philosophy and practices.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals.
- Experience supporting a respectful and collaborative work environment that values integrity, professionalism, and mutual respect.
- Excellent planning and digital project management skills.
- Ability to solve problems using investigative research and analytical skills to develop and implement creative solutions.
- Ability to take initiative, accurately establish priorities, complete complex assignments with urgency and accuracy, and adapt quickly to changing needs and conflicting challenges.
- Strong knowledge of digital communications and social media software and platforms, including content management systems and digital publishing tools.
- Sophisticated understanding of digital audiences and fluency in best practice tools and techniques for digital communications.
- Ability and willingness to travel; valid driver license and good driving record are essential.
- Business expenses reimbursed through a standard accounting system; ability to pay expenses using personal credit card or funds and have them reimbursed is essential.
