Job Description
The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator leads strategic communications for the City of Norfolk, integrating social media management, public relations, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement to support economic development and strengthen community relations.

USD 56,900 - 95,328 per yearly
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and implement social media strategies and content across platforms to promote city initiatives, events, and community engagement.
- Monitor performance metrics and optimize content based on insights, adjusting strategies accordingly.
- Draft and distribute press releases, newsletters, and media advisories for events such as ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and other economic development efforts.
- Assist in planning and promoting major events including grand openings and ribbon cuttings.
- Represent the city at events, ensuring clear communication and branding consistency.
- Serve as a liaison among the department, City Communications Department, local businesses, and community stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to organize and execute department programs.
- Support the Director of Communications with administrative tasks, including creating presentations, reports, and briefing materials.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to communications and public relations.
- Design and coordinate engaging campaigns, studies, and multimedia projects that highlight city goals and achievements.
- Ensure all communications align with the city’s brand voice and identity.
- Coordinate grant proposals and assist with departmental budgeting processes related to communication projects.
