Job Description
CAST offers a collaborative, mission-driven environment in Southold, NY, where the Marketing and Development team is growing to expand fundraising efforts, CRM capabilities, grant research, and content strategy. This full-time AmeriCorps VISTA role provides a structured path to develop hands-on nonprofit marketing and development skills while making a meaningful community impact. The position includes a bi-weekly living stipend through AmeriCorps VISTA, potential onsite housing, and paid time off, with a program duration from July 1, 2026 to June 26, 2027 and a weekly commitment of 35 to 40 hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Overview
The Marketing and Development AmeriCorps VISTA member will play a key role in expanding CAST's Marketing and Development department by supporting strategic growth initiatives in fundraising events, CRM implementation, grant research, and content strategy.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing at least two annual fundraising events as well as smaller fundraising events.
- Assist in developing and launching new fundraising events.
- Review historical event documentation, strategies, and results to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Document event marketing and operational best practices, creating comprehensive playbooks for future use.
- Support the expansion and optimization of EveryAction CRM system by learning the platform capabilities and documenting processes.
- Assist in optimizing EveryAction for development (donations and grants) and marketing (email campaigns, donor lifecycle management).
- Develop customized EveryAction user manuals with step-by-step instructions and screenshots.
- Research potential grant funders aligned with CAST's mission and programs.
- Evaluate funding opportunities and assess likelihood for financial support for CAST.
- Maintain a library of grant topics and language to improve efficiency for grant writing.
- Assess content strategy across website, email marketing, and social media, and suggest improvements.
- Research nonprofit content strategy best practices and incorporate relevant updates into CAST's approach.
- Maintain and refine digital asset management system to organize and streamline marketing materials.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Experience or interest in event planning, fundraising, CRM systems, grant research and content creation.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate with a team.
- Comfortable working with digital tools including email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and social media.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
