The Social Media Marketing Manager will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of social media initiatives to elevate the Cengage brand, engage audiences, and drive measurable business results across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enact a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with brand and marketing goals.
- Review and assess social calendars across business units to identify content that best fits master-brand channels.
- Support the creation and maintenance of the master-brand social content calendar.
- Plan, produce, and publish engaging content across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok.
- Manage day-to-day social media operations, including content calendars and posting cadences.
- Monitor channels, respond to comments and messages, and cultivate meaningful audience engagement.
- Analyze performance data and optimize campaigns to improve reach, engagement, and conversions.
- Collaborate with creative teams, copywriters, and marketing stakeholders to deliver high-quality content.
- Partner with internal teams to amplify campaigns, events, and key initiatives.
- Stay current on social trends, emerging platforms, and best practices to keep content fresh.
- Oversee paid social campaigns in partnership with media teams, including targeting and performance tracking.
- Ensure consistent brand voice and visuals across all social channels.
- Track competitor activity and identify differentiation opportunities.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience leading social media for a brand, preferably in a B2B or corporate setting; experience in the education sector is a plus.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing social media strategies and campaigns.
- Strong understanding of platform algorithms, trends, and standards.
- Experience with social media management and analytics tools (for example Sprout Social, Hootsuite, native insights).
- Foundational knowledge of paid social media advertising and campaign optimization.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and propose improvements.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking capabilities.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is USD 67,000 to 87,100 per year. Individual base pay varies based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Some roles may include incentive compensation beyond the base pay range.
