Job Description

The Retail Marketing Manager will plan and oversee the National Mango Board’s retail marketing and promotion initiatives, supervise the Regional Retail Account Managers, and partner with the Director of Marketing to maximize the annual budget and advance mango awareness and consumption across the United States. This role is based in Orlando, Florida on a hybrid schedule and offers a salary range of USD 100,000 to 110,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the national retail marketing program under the direction of the Director of Marketing.
  • Lead the retail account consultant team to ensure strong results across the program.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Director of Marketing and retail consultants to align the program with NMB needs.
  • Set targets for retail promotion allocations and manage the promotions budget, fulfillment, reports, and collateral to maximize industry impact and provide equitable regional support.
  • Direct planning for the next year’s retail program, aligning strategic plan objectives with each area and establishing the program budget in collaboration with agencies and consultants to meet annual goals.
  • Provide insights and support to the Director of Marketing on projects, including distributor strategy.
  • Prepare for and participate in Board meetings, marketing committee meetings, conference calls, and the annual retail team strategic planning session; develop and present updates and coordinate the retail portion of marketing presentations, budgets, agendas, and minutes.
  • Handle Retail requirements including processing invoices, reviewing financial statements, preparing expense reports, and planning travel.
  • Analyze market data from sources such as Nielsen and 84.51 through templated reports for staff, Board members, and industry members.
  • Directly supervise three Regional Retail Account Managers and ensure supervisory activities comply with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities including training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, addressing concerns, and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible marketing or project/program management experience involving campaigns, trade shows, and promotional resources.
  • Analytical and data skills: Ability to synthesize complex information, conduct research, and design workflows, using experience to complement data.
  • Problem solving: Identifies and resolves issues promptly; analyzes information and develops alternatives; effective in collaborative problem solving.
  • Project management: Develops plans, coordinates projects, communicates changes, and delivers on time and within budget; oversees project teams.
  • Technical proficiency: Assesses strengths and gaps, pursues training, expands knowledge, and shares expertise with others.
  • External relationships: Builds courteous, effective relationships with clients, vendors, and other external representatives.
  • Change management: Develops implementation plans, communicates changes, builds commitment, supports transitions, and evaluates results.
  • People management: Includes the retail team in planning and decision-making; provides regular feedback; supports growth and development; solicits customer feedback.
  • Business acumen: Aligns work with strategic goals and analyzes market conditions to adapt strategy.
  • Cost consciousness: Works within approved budgets and identifies opportunities for cost savings.
  • Business necessity: Demonstrates adaptability to changing external and internal demands and may modify processes with limited notice as needed.
  • Safety and security: Follows safety procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Documentation and communication: Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries; and present on complex topics to retailers, senior management, and boards.
  • Preferred experience: Marketing experience with commodity and not-for-profit organizations and retail accounts is a plus.
  • Technical tools: Proficient with computer hardware, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and related software.
  • Work flexibility: Willingness to work extended hours and attend marketing and business outreach meetings, Board meetings, tradeshows, and educational programs.

Compensation

Travel Requirements

  • Represent the National Mango Board at national and regional retail trade shows and in retailer and category development meetings.
  • Ability to travel domestically and overseas, work extended hours, attend Board meetings, professional conferences, and educational programs, with up to 25 percent travel.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under NMB vehicle insurance standards.

Attendance

  • Must be punctual and timely in meeting performance requirements, including attendance standards and deadlines; begin and end assignments on time and observe scheduled breaks.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Continual use of hands and fingers to operate computer hardware and office equipment.
  • Typically seated with occasional standing and walking to access offices and meeting locations.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of reports and files, generally under 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include near vision and the ability to adjust focus; hearing and speaking abilities are required.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Hybrid work arrangement: new employees in the office five days per week for the first two months, four days per week in months three and four, and three days per week thereafter; telework may be assigned as needed based on organizational needs.
