Job Description

City of Roanoke is seeking a part-time Marketing Coordinator to support PARK Roanoke’s marketing, branding, and outreach efforts. The role will plan, coordinate, and execute campaigns, develop and manage materials across multiple platforms, and collaborate with City departments and vendors to enhance public engagement around parking programs and capital projects.

Location: Roanoke, VA (onsite). Compensation: USD 30 - 48 per hour. Type: Part-time. Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field. Experience: 2+ years.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute marketing and publicity activities for PARK Roanoke programs, facilities, projects, and initiatives.
  • Create, design, and distribute marketing assets such as brochures, flyers, signage, banners, ads, newsletters, and digital content.
  • Keep PARK Roanoke’s website and digital channels current, accurate, timely, and user-friendly.
  • Ensure branding consistency across PARK Roanoke communications in line with City guidelines.
  • Work with PARK Roanoke leadership and staff to craft targeted marketing plans for parking programs, enforcement updates, customer service initiatives, and capital projects.
  • Assess campaign performance, monitor metrics, and propose improvements.
  • Stay informed about marketing trends and evaluate their impact on public engagement and service delivery.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring PARK Roanoke’s marketing budget.
  • Coordinate procurement of marketing supplies and services, including vendor interactions and quotes or bids as needed.
  • Support the preparation and administration of marketing contracts and agreements.
  • Respond verbally and in writing to inquiries from the public, businesses, and stakeholders about PARK Roanoke services and initiatives.
  • Support outreach with downtown partners, businesses, event organizers, and community organizations.
  • Represent PARK Roanoke on committees, advisory groups, or at community events as assigned.
  • Visit Downtown Business District businesses weekly to determine optimal parking options for customers and employees.
  • Facilitate recommendations from current and upcoming parking studies.
  • Develop and propose marketing policies, procedures, and standards; ensure alignment with City guidelines.
  • Coordinate supplies and equipment needs for marketing activities.
  • Assist with special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • May supervise seasonal staff, interns, or volunteers involved in marketing or outreach.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of marketing principles, branding, public relations, and outreach strategies.
  • Capability to plan, design, and evaluate marketing campaigns across print and digital channels.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Proficient in desktop publishing, graphic design, and content management systems.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or public outreach, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign or comparable tools).
