Job Description

Based onsite at the University of New Mexico Bookstores in Albuquerque, this Marketing Assistant – Graphic Design role supports marketing initiatives by creating artwork for print and digital media and by overseeing in-house print production under the supervision of the Sr. Marketing Representative.

Summary

The Marketing Assistant – Graphic Design position at UNM Bookstores supports marketing efforts by producing artwork for both print and digital channels and by coordinating in-house print production under the guidance of the Sr. Marketing Representative.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and produce artwork for print and digital media, including flyers, advertisements, brochures, posters, signage, and graphics for web and social media, ensuring alignment with brand standards and current campaigns.
  • Manage the in-house print production process, including preparing files for print (formatting, sizing, and quality checks), operating printing equipment, and ensuring materials are produced accurately and efficiently.

Position Summary

Applications are welcome from all students regardless of work-study award. The UNM Bookstores seek a proactive, creative student to contribute to their marketing initiatives. Reporting directly to the Sr. Marketing Representative, the Marketing Assistant will play an integral role in advancing the bookstores' marketing efforts. Responsibilities include conceptualizing and creating artwork for both print and digital media, such as flyers and advertisements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Experience designing for both digital and print platforms
  • Familiarity with operating or willingness to learn in-house printing equipment
  • Portfolio demonstrating design work
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team environment
  • Availability of up to 20 hours per week during regular business hours
