Job Description

The Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist, reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, manages the Town of Flower Mound's brand identity through graphic design, visual communications, and written content for marketing and public-facing materials.

Location: Cross, TX (onsite). Hourly compensation: USD 2,967.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and sustain a cohesive brand identity across Town communications and programs.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments on design needs such as flyers, posters, invitations, brochures, report covers, presentations, social graphics, and event or program logos, ensuring brand standards are consistently applied.
  • Plan and produce the Town’s Annual Report, handling complex layout and writing, and provide support for additional reports and publications as required.
  • Prepare and update print and digital materials including forms, reports, and social media assets.
  • Create templates for diverse uses, including presentations and business cards, to streamline design workflows.
  • Generate copy for marketing communications, spanning social posts, website content, utility bill inserts, e-newsletters, annual reports, and flyers.
  • Research and propose innovative ideas to strengthen the Town’s brand presence.
  • Represent the Town at events, with work anticipated during evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Support public education campaigns for departments, elections, and Council initiatives; develop concepts and may assist the Video team with graphics or creative elements for video projects.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of media, social media, and other marketing efforts to guide future planning.
  • Adhere to personnel, safety, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Solid understanding of design fundamentals, typography, color theory, and the ability to produce materials compliant with federal ADA requirements.
  • Strong project management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to operate related programs as needed.
  • Experience with Canva and related design platforms.
  • Knowledge of social media and marketing practices.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, including accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Professional communication style and the ability to maintain a courteous demeanor.
  • Flexibility to work after hours, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Experience composing content for marketing or communications materials.

Example of Duties

  • Attend Town events and work during evenings or weekends as required.
  • Support public education campaigns and Council initiatives; contribute creative ideas and may collaborate with the Video team on projects requiring graphics.
  • Assess the impact of media and digital campaigns to guide future activities.
  • Comply with all personnel, safety, and department policies, and assist coworkers as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supplemental Information
