Job Description
Manhattanville University seeks a seasoned leadership figure to steer in-house graphic design and branding efforts, delivering visual assets, upholding brand standards, managing marketing design projects, and providing front-end web support in collaboration with the IT team.
Responsibilities
- Lead in-house graphic design, producing high-quality visuals across print, digital, environmental, and web platforms.
- Create marketing collateral including event materials, publications, digital graphics, signage, slide decks, advertisements, branded templates, and web graphics.
- Translate institutional messaging and complex information into clear, visually compelling designs.
- Ensure all design work reflects Manhattanville's visual identity, tone, and brand standards.
- Maintain stewardship of the university's visual brand, ensuring consistent application across departments, initiatives, platforms, and digital properties.
- Oversee brand approvals through Marq, handling review, feedback, and final sign-off.
- Update and maintain brand guidelines, templates, and approved assets to support campus-wide compliance.
- Provide consultation and guidance to campus partners on proper brand usage.
- Support the visual design, layout, and brand consistency of the website and affiliated digital properties.
- Collaborate with digital communications and IT teams to implement design updates, templates, landing pages, and CMS-based enhancements.
- Create and refine web graphics, layouts, and visual elements to improve user experience, accessibility, and visual coherence.
- Assist with front-end updates including content layout, formatting, image optimization, and brand alignment.
- Ensure web content aligns with brand standards, accessibility best practices, and institutional messaging.
- Serve as the primary liaison for marketing design requests, clarifying scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Manage projects from intake through completion, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors; provide regular status updates.
- Support prioritization and workflow management in alignment with departmental goals.
- Collaborate with communications, editorial, and digital colleagues on integrated marketing and communications campaigns.
- Prepare and manage design files through review, revision, and final production.
- Coordinate with external vendors for printing, signage, web support, and specialty production.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Exceptional visual design and layout skills.
- Strong understanding of brand systems and visual identity standards.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Working knowledge of web design principles, accessibility standards, and CMS platforms.
- Ability to translate strategic goals into effective visual communication.
