Job Description

Based in Kansas City, the University of Missouri - Kansas City, home to The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to shape the museum’s outreach across social media, media relations, and event promotion. This onsite role collaborates with learning and engagement teams, development, and design to boost visibility and deepen audience engagement through coordinated campaigns and timely storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, including post creation, scheduling, and audience interaction.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow engagement, expand followers, and drive traffic to the museum website.
  • Monitor analytics, track campaign performance, and generate reports to measure success.
  • Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national press.
  • Draft press releases, manage media outreach, and coordinate interviews and media appearances for museum leadership.
  • Track press coverage and compile regular reports to assess outreach effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Engagement team to plan and promote events, programs, and exhibitions.
  • Assist in creating promotional campaigns, including email newsletters, print materials, and digital ads.
  • Work with the Development department to craft marketing campaigns for fundraising and member engagement.
  • Support content creation for the museum’s website, newsletters, and other marketing materials, ensuring consistent brand messaging across channels.
  • Coordinate with design and content teams to produce promotional materials, event flyers, and signage.
  • Maintain the marketing calendar, track deadlines, and ensure timely content execution.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for marketing materials and media buys.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Shift

This role requires occasional evening and weekend availability.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range is $19.25 - $26.00 per hour. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements. Total compensation includes generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions. Grade: 008. University Title: STRAT COMM ASSOCIATE I.
