Job Description

The University of Arizona's Center for Career Readiness in Tucson is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to shape and drive outreach to students and campus partners. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution, overseeing marketing plans, event promotion, branding, social media, and website content, all within a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of marketing and communications plans for events, resources, and programs, with emphasis on career and networking events and in support of the Success for Every Student strategic imperative.
  • Manage multiple day-to-day marketing projects, coordinating with event and program leads and with the supervisor to ensure messaging is consistent and timely.
  • Create, execute, and continually improve an email marketing approach for promoting department events, programs, and resources, using Handshake to send students relevant, compelling, and consistently branded messages.
  • Oversee the department's social media strategy and channels, pre-scheduling posts to promote events, resources, opportunities, success stories, and other news while applying digital marketing tactics to track results.
  • Assist staff in marketing and communications efforts by providing direct support and resources.
  • Develop resources such as templates, toolkits, flyers, videos, and other visual aids to help staff and campus partners communicate with students and stakeholders about programs and events.
  • Ensure branding is consistently applied across all communications and marketing materials; oversee the department's look, voice, and messaging; provide staff training as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff to write and edit marketing content and copy for flyers, videos, emails, website copy, advertisements, student stories, and other materials.
  • Assist with website management and content audits to continually improve user experience for stakeholders.
  • Work with the Strategist and Content Engagement to develop an annual marketing and communication plan for the department.
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize data on the effectiveness of different communication channels to optimize marketing results using internal and external research.
  • Utilize digital marketing platforms and tactics to track metrics for social and email campaigns.
  • Stay current with marketing and communications industry trends and best practices to refine tactics, methods, and materials.
  • Represent the department on university committees and at conferences as assigned; establish and maintain relationships with campus partners to raise visibility.
  • Participate in 2-3 webinars or other professional development opportunities annually and share learnings with the team as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
