Marketing Communications Coordinator
Job Description
The Marketing Communications Coordinator supports the National Wood Flooring Association by producing editorial and marketing content across print and digital channels, while assisting with media engagement and related media assets.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality content for the association magazine, websites, press releases, newsletter, and marketing materials
- Write magazine articles using strong journalism practices
- Produce press releases, newsletter copy, and marketing messaging for external communications
- Interview subject-matter experts professionally to gather insight and develop publish-ready content
- Generate article ideas based on industry knowledge and member-focused interests
- Field inquiries from other media outlets and industry organizations
- Prepare press releases for publication to media
- Produce the magazine’s weekly e-newsletter
- Build and maintain relationships with sources and industry experts
- Support production of videos, podcasts, photo materials, and association presentations
- Create slide presentations for association events
- Coordinate event photography needs and manage photo lists
- Edit and prepare materials for videos and podcasts
- Collaborate on consumer and trade media inquiries
- Participate in editorial planning meetings and provide status updates on story progress
- Proofread and edit materials for the organization
- Conduct first-round edits for magazine articles, newsletter, website content, and marketing materials
- Edit contributed content to ensure clarity, accuracy, grammar, and alignment to editorial standards
- Assist with proofreading during the magazine production cycle and other communication initiatives
- Post content on the association website and publish magazine articles and materials in a timely manner
- Ensure content is properly formatted for readability and user experience
- Assist with the content calendar and make sure deadlines and timelines are met
- Communicate deadlines and expectations to contributors, internal team members, and SMEs
- Coordinate schedules for articles, website updates, newsletters, and publication milestones
- Draft consumer and trade media communications under short timelines
- Track projects to confirm content delivery is on schedule for publication
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field
- 1 to 3 years of experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or media
- 1+ years of experience interviewing subject matter experts to create content
- Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
- Extremely organized and detail oriented
- Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Team player with willingness to learn new programs and skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
- WordPress, Canva, email management systems (such as Constant Contact), and Adobe Creative Suite are a plus
