Job Description
The Donor Marketing and Communications Strategist develops and executes localized marketing and communications strategies to support Versiti’s blood services and encourage donor participation, retention, and public awareness. This hybrid role in Columbus, OH partners with internal teams, donors, community organizations, and media to translate organizational direction into actionable regional initiatives.
Localized Marketing Strategy
- Designs and manages localized marketing plans aligned with organizational objectives to drive donor recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Oversees promotional strategy and execution supporting blood and platelet collections across the state.
- Implements local initiatives stemming from corporate partnerships, ensuring alignment with regional marketing efforts.
- Uses regional data to monitor campaign performance and donor engagement metrics, providing recommendations to support continuous improvement.
Promotions, Events, and Community Outreach
- Provides logistical and promotional support for special blood drives, donor recognition events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Fosters relationships with local community organizations, businesses, schools, and media outlets to help secure in-kind donations and sponsorships that drive blood collection during challenging periods, including summer and holidays.
- Responds to inquiries related to local and state promotions and marketing with timely and effective communication.
Content, Media, and Brand Consistency
- Creates compelling marketing content, including flyers, digital ads, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Supports cross-channel copywriting needs across print, radio, and social media.
- Drafts and distributes media alerts related to blood drives and other public relations content under guidance from the PR department, ensuring alignment with Versiti’s messaging and brand standards.
- Maintains consistent representation of Versiti’s brand in all communications, following established messaging, tone, and design standards.
Collaboration and Regional Alignment
- Serves as a liaison among field operations, corporate marketing, and communications teams to align initiatives and meet regional marketing needs, exercising influence without direct authority.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the job classification.
- Understands and performs in accordance with applicable regulatory and compliance requirements, and complies with standard operating policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field, ideally in healthcare, non-profit, or community engagement.
- Ability to develop localized marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals using market research to tailor campaigns.
- Advanced ability to create diverse marketing materials, with proficiency in design software and content management systems.
- Commitment to exceptional service to donors and stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational skills for managing multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with Hootsuite or Sprout Social or similar tools for managing social media platforms.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and other analytics tools to track campaign performance.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of digital marketing strategies including social media, email marketing, and SEO.
- Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM system for donor management and engagement.
- Experience with HubSpot or Marketo for automating and analyzing marketing campaigns.
- Strong experience in Eventbrite or Cvent for event promotion and management.
- Knowledge of Mailchimp or Constant Contact for email marketing and donor communication.
- Ability to use Asana or Trello for project management and team collaboration.
