Job Description

Xcel Energy is looking for a Communications Consultant, Product Marketing to help deliver high-quality communications that support company goals across internal and external audiences. This hybrid role in Minneapolis, MN pairs strong communications project management and writing with client service, coordinating across Communications and cross-functional teams to keep strategy aligned across business units, jurisdictions, and issues.

Compensation: USD 73,700 - 104,633 per year. Experience: 5+ years. Education: Bachelor’s degree. Technology: Microsoft.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, research, write, edit, and coordinate development of print, electronic, and web-based communications such as brochures, bill inserts, fact sheets, presentations, and collateral.
  • Coordinate schedules and work with graphic designers to ensure deliverables meet client needs. Document and improve processes to drive quality, on-time results, and outcomes within budget.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to bring a communications perspective, support mission-focused plans and tactics, and provide communications counsel to clients.
  • Partner with vendor organizations including printers, direct mail houses, and bindery shops to meet production quality and timing requirements. Receive invoices and initiate the payment process, including ensuring correct budget codes are used.
  • Support and demonstrate behaviors consistent with Xcel Energy’s brand and corporate values.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • Five years of experience in roles requiring significant, direct interaction with clients, designers, and production vendors.
  • Work experience in an agency or corporate setting preferred.
  • Proven ability to write clearly, concisely, quickly, and accurately, incorporating key messages and calls to action with appropriate language and tone for the target audience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects during the workday and perform effectively at a fast pace.

Preferred background

  • Experience and success in marketing communications for business-to-business and/or business-to-consumer products, including direct marketing, Internet marketing, and collateral material development (Consultant in Customer Communications).
  • Strong preference toward corporate experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
