Job Description

Whatnot is seeking a Category Marketing Manager in New York, NY to drive hyper-growth for sellers by developing and executing category marketing plans across channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead buyer acquisition for a priority category by designing campaigns and events that generate buzz and expand demand.
  • Plan and execute end-to-end on-platform events, product launches, and other community moments across multiple channels.
  • Oversee a portfolio of influencers, serving as the primary owner for relationships, content ideation, execution, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with social and paid creative teams to develop plans supporting tentpole campaigns for your category, while providing ongoing category insights.
  • Track performance and iterate on the effectiveness of category marketing initiatives.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of marketing experience in a fast-paced environment; experience at a high-growth startup, marketplace, or creator-focused platform is a plus.
  • Versatile marketer able to blend strategy and hands-on execution, solve problems quickly, and own initiatives across multiple channels.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of leading complex cross-functional initiatives to deliver high-impact outcomes.
  • Data driven with experience tracking KPIs and monitoring the success of marketing programs.
  • Scrappy and adaptable to a fast-paced startup environment with limited guidance, able to pivot quickly as needed.

Compensation

  • Salary: USD 126,000 – 165,000 per year; offers equity
  • The salary or hourly rate range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary or hourly rate will be based on a number of factors including level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary or hourly rate, not benefits or equity.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Creative Suite, Figma)
  • Experience working with data analytics and AI tools, such as SQL, Hex, or Sigma
  • Passion for creator communities and/or Whatnot categories (e.g., vintage clothing, collectibles)
  • Experience buying and selling in online marketplaces
