Job Description

Penguin Random House LLC, based in New York, NY, is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing for Vintage Books. This hybrid position combines leading title campaigns with owning the strategy and calendar for Vintage’s social channels. The role offers a salary range of USD 87,000 to 95,000 per year and a benefits package designed to support you and your family.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and steer inventive title marketing programs grounded in market data and consumer trends to raise awareness, boost engagement, and increase sales for forthcoming publications.
  • Oversee title marketing strategies, advertising initiatives, analytics, partnerships with creatives, and budgets to maximize ROI across multiple lead titles annually.
  • Coordinate with Publicity, Editorial, Creative, and Sales teams to execute unified campaigns, while communicating with authors, agents, estates, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Oversee Vintage's Instagram, Facebook, and X accounts, handling on-site photography at the office and daily content posting, plus long-term brand-building, data analysis, and optimization across Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok.
  • Stay informed about the adult book market and publishing industry and propose new, innovative ways to market titles to consumers, influencers, and booksellers.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years in marketing or public relations, including at least 5 years in book marketing or publicity; demonstrated presentation skills and a track record of creating integrated advertising, social, and influencer campaigns; and at least 3 years’ experience managing budgets.
  • Five years’ experience in social media, including at least three years owning social channels, maintaining social calendars, and leading end-to-end content development with analytics to optimize strategy and messaging.
  • Strong photography and copywriting abilities; video capabilities are a plus.
  • Proven ability to set and meet goals within an established budget.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience collaborating with editorial, publicity, and sales, plus working with authors and agents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with colleagues and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Capacity to work cross-functionally across the division and within the company.
  • Results-oriented, motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently.
  • Interest in developing marketing partnerships, innovative campaigns, and direct-to-reader outreach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs, Canva, and online marketing tools.
