Director of Marketing and Communications
Job Description
Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced, creative, mission-driven Director of Marketing and Communications to lead integrated marketing, branding, storytelling, and communications in support of enrollment and fundraising.
Responsibilities
- Lead integrated marketing and brand strategy aligned with the school’s mission, strategic priorities, enrollment goals, and fundraising objectives; protect the Hillel Academy brand and advise senior leadership on communications.
- Develop campaigns and supporting materials for student recruitment and retention, annual and capital fundraising, donor stewardship, alumni engagement, and major institutional initiatives.
- Craft and share stories highlighting students, faculty, alumni, Jewish life, academics, athletics, arts, STEM, and community service; strengthen relationships with families, donors, community partners, and media.
- Oversee key channels and deliverables including website, social media, email, print, video, photography, advertising, newsletters, press releases, event promotions, and branded materials; ensure consistent quality and messaging across platforms.
- Support internal communications and assist senior leadership with sensitive, urgent, or crisis-related communications including talking points, parent notices, FAQs, and public statements.
- Track engagement and campaign performance; manage communications budgets and vendors; build systems to keep projects accurate, efficient, and on schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing/communications/public relations/journalism/English/business or a related field.
- Professional experience in marketing, communications, branding, public relations, advancement communications, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, storytelling, project management, and strategic communications skills.
- Experience using websites, email marketing, social media, print materials, multimedia content, and integrated campaigns.
- Demonstrated judgment, discretion, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Independent school, Jewish communal, nonprofit, educational, or other mission-driven experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Orthodox Jewish practices, culture and values, Jewish day school education, and the Pittsburgh Jewish community required.
