Director, Content Marketing, Global Payment Network
Job Description
Capital One seeks a senior content leader to drive the Global Payment Network's global content strategy and editorial operations from Riverwoods, IL, with a salary range of USD 187,300 to 256,500 per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and steer audience-focused content plans that reflect the network's brand positioning, product value, and differentiators.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across Pulse, Discover Network, and Diners Club to align the editorial calendar with business priorities, serving as a strategic advisor beyond content production.
- Oversee the marketing claims strategy in partnership with Network teams, External Affairs, Legal, and Compliance to support brand strategy while minimizing enterprise risk.
- Incorporate performance data, client feedback, and competitive intelligence as editorial inputs, treating each insight as a signal about what to commission next, what to discontinue, and where opportunities sit.
- Maintain a vigilant view of the competitive landscape, analyzing best-in-class content operations in financial services and beyond to ensure Global Payment Network leads rather than follows.
- Partner with creative leadership to produce engaging assets across video, social, and website channels.
- Leverage ongoing performance data, partner feedback, and competitive intelligence to inform what to produce next, what to discontinue, and where opportunities lie.
- Oversee the adaptation and localization of content strategies across priority international markets, preserving global brand consistency while respecting local market dynamics.
- Work with Enterprise Communications and Strategy teams to design content strategies that strengthen the Network's voice in the payments ecosystem, including executive thought leadership programs, payment award strategy, and industry analyst outreach.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or military experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in content development or brand narrative management.
- At least 3 years of experience operating within regulatory and compliance environments.
- At least 5 years of people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, or thought leadership, with meaningful time in wealth management, asset management, or financial services.
- Deep subject-matter expertise across the payments landscape and the associated economics.
- Proven track record of leading and developing content teams, setting standards, building culture, and elevating the work of colleagues.
- Experience working in regulated environments while maintaining high creative standards.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build consensus in a highly matrixed, multi-brand organization without direct authority over all cross-functional partners.
