Job Description

The University of Michigan Digital Marketing Associate role supports marketing and communications initiatives for Michigan Housing, telling the on-campus living story to prospective and returning residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with communications and creative content for the Wolverine Village opening in Fall 2026.
  • Oversee photos and videos for Michigan Housing events and storytelling campaigns, building a library of brand-aligned visual assets documenting student experiences.
  • Manage internal systems for distributing flyers and content to digital screens, social channels, and print publications.
  • Assemble and edit the department newsletter for professional and student staff.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation, brand assets, photography archives, and marketing materials.
  • Administer digital signage in residential communities; troubleshoot issues, provide user training, assess utilization, and coordinate with Student Life Technology Solutions on technical concerns.
  • Guide creative projects from concept to delivery, establishing timelines, tracking progress, and ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Collect and monitor analytics and performance data to inform marketing strategies.
  • Coordinate Michigan Housing's Instagram presence; monitor channels for questions and respond promptly.
  • Update Michigan Housing website and knowledgebase articles.
  • Track emerging trends in social media, digital media, and technology.
  • Maintain digital accessibility guidance as it relates to department communications.
  • Manage a comprehensive social media content calendar aligned with the communications plan.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Specialist to supervise, coach, and mentor student marketing staff and interns; hire, train, and oversee contributors to the social platform.
  • Develop and implement a sustainable plan for periodic review of websites and knowledge base articles.
  • Respond to questions from students, parents, and stakeholders on behalf of the Communications Specialist, including campus, local, state, or national topics.
  • Supervise student staff representing Michigan Housing at on-campus and off-campus events, including Campus Day, Orientation, and community programs.
  • Deliver presentations to students, families, supporters, and campus partners to highlight the benefits of on-campus living.
  • Provide general administrative support, scheduling, purchasing, budget tracking, and logistical coordination for marketing and outreach activities.
  • Oversee the Michigan Housing Scholarship portfolio, including stewardship and distribution of funds.
  • Collaborate with Student Life Business & Finance to evaluate fund balances and distribute awards.
  • Liaise with University Development to facilitate donor tours and proposals as requested.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with creative software tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or equivalents.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
