Content Marketing

Applied Compute is hiring its first customer and demand generation marketer to help uncover and amplify the people and technical work behind the company. This role supports demand creation by pairing a journalist mindset with content strategy, editorial planning, customer advocacy, and measurable pipeline reporting, all while building an events and community program designed to produce outcomes beyond the day of the event.

Based in San Francisco, CA (onsite), you will set the direction for content and programs from the ground up, partnering with engineering, research, product, design, and go-to-market teams to translate technical insights into customer-ready proof points.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an internal journalist by building relationships with engineers, researchers, product teams, and customers; asking sharp questions to surface stories, insights, and technical work worth sharing
• Own content strategy and an editorial calendar spanning research, technical blog posts, customer stories, video, talks, and joint customer content
• Collaborate with platform and product teams to understand the roadmap, identify the moments to shape positioning and storytelling, and plan ahead of launches
• Work closely with design to translate ideas into clear, compelling content across formats, keeping production moving from brief through publication
• Run a customer advocacy program, including references, quotes, logo approvals, and co-marketing with customers who want to share what they built
• Convert research and engagement into durable proof points sales can use in conversations
• Own marketing-sourced and influenced pipeline, and create reporting that shows what is working and what is not
• Design and run account-based programs for a named list of enterprise accounts in partnership with account executives
• Build email, nurture, and paid programs for a technical audience that ignores most marketing
• Own event strategy, including a fireside chat series with enterprise leaders, executive dinners, and attendance at industry conferences and partner events
• Ensure each event produces something durable, such as a recording, a story, or relationships that can turn into deals

Requirements

• Deep curiosity as a writer and storyteller, including the ability to investigate how something works, talk with engineers or researchers, and craft a story an executive would share
• Proven ability to build programs, systems, or content engines from zero to one rather than relying on an established playbook
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational rigor, including managing complex editorial calendars, multiple contributors, and reliable movement from idea to publication
• Strong editorial judgment to select which ideas to pursue, choose the right formats, and keep technical work accurate while making it compelling
• Comfort with numbers, including reporting program cost, output, and whether to repeat what works
• Enough curiosity about AI and machine learning to learn how post-training and inference work and discuss them accurately

Compensation

USD 115,000 - 225,000 per year

Additional Considerations

• Experience marketing AI infrastructure, developer tools, or data platforms to enterprise buyers
• Experience producing video or podcast content, or running a customer story program that people actually watched and shared
• A network across enterprise engineering and AI leadership
