Overview

The Department of Human Development and Family Science seeks a Communications and Marketing – Department Specialist I/II to create communications, marketing, and promotional materials delivered through various media for a college, school, or department. The role supports social media strategy, storytelling opportunities, and multi-channel campaigns, onsite at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Salary range: USD 44,050 to 76,250 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creative and technical elements of social media, implement strategies to build brand loyalty across platforms, and align campaigns with college and university initiatives.
  • Manage content creation, monitor online engagement, and maintain a weekly content calendar to ensure messaging is strategic and consistent.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to identify and prioritize high-impact storytelling opportunities.
  • Attend monthly social media liaison meetings with the Hospitality program and weekly communications meetings with the CHS team.
  • Stay current with social media trends and proactively propose promotional ideas across all platforms.
  • Partner with CHS communications team leaders to amplify college-wide initiatives and events across CHS social channels.
  • Serve as the social media expert and advocate for internal and external partners.
  • Customize school content to fit the voice and format of each platform.
  • Work with faculty and the CHS Marketing and Communications Office to shape social media strategy and content placement across School and CHS platforms.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure seamless multi-channel campaign integration across platforms.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field
  • Level I: Bachelor’s degree
  • Level II: Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience in marketing and communications services, including print journalism
  • Substitutions: Graduate degrees accepted in lieu of experience requirement, at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of required experience
