Job Description

Assistant/Associate Director of Programmatic Advertising at Hachette Book Group in New York, NY (hybrid), leading planning, execution, optimization, and reporting for adult programmatic campaigns with a small team, reporting to the Director of Advertising within the Executive Marketing Strategy department and advising on strategy, budgeting, and cross-imprint communications; salary range USD 80,000 - 95,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, execution, and optimization for full funnel programmatic advertising campaigns across roughly 20 publishing groups, bringing hundreds of frontlist titles to market alongside a backlist of bestselling and acclaimed titles.
  • Leverage internal reporting tools to build data driven recommendations and planning, continually testing new ideas, practices, and trends to elevate HBG's programmatic work.
  • Partner with title marketers to establish campaign goals and audience targets, ensuring marketers understand the campaigns currently in market.
  • Maintain a reporting workflow using HBG data resources with an eye toward profitability and KPIs, while enabling imprint marketers for internal and external meetings.
  • Stay current on leading and emerging marketing practices in publishing and related industries, sharing best practices through reports, newsletters, and internal meetings.
  • Support the Advertising Director in building out the programmatic division infrastructure to enable innovative, flexible work and high touch collaboration with imprint advertising liaisons.
  • Assist in developing ad tech infrastructure across new and existing programmatic platforms.

Requirements

  • Experience with multiple programmatic platforms including Meta, Amazon, Google, TikTok, and Reddit.
  • Experience with project management software is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of digital ad statistics, benchmarks, and reporting, with the ability to translate insights into actionable audience targeting strategies that grow author audiences and conversions.
  • Ability to analyze sales and marketing trends and use research to contribute to proactive marketing campaigns and plans.
  • Capability to balance innovative, data driven brainstorming with meticulous attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Experience managing a small team and mentoring younger team members on platform techniques.
  • Proficiency in managing large budgets effectively with strong return on investment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage diverse audiences in both individual and group settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and innovation by improving work product or process, and to challenge established norms when appropriate.
  • Proven track record of building supportive, constructive relationships inside and outside the organization; leads collaboration for mutual benefit.
