Job Description

The Senior Marketing Underwriter for workers’ compensation in Nebraska is a remote role focused on strengthening agent and broker partnerships, underwriting a middle market book that includes renewals and new business, and driving expansion of SFM’s Nebraska footprint. This position, based out of Omaha with a preference for candidates in Lincoln or Omaha, offers a salary range of $81,946 - $114,725 per year and the opportunity to operate across a dynamic regional market.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new business activity by marketing SFM to agents and producers through creative engagement, while managing the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Own and oversee the entire underwriting book to achieve target premium volume and loss ratios aligned with company goals; support the appointment of new agencies as needed.
  • Build and sustain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents and brokers to set marketing plan goals and convey company philosophy, procedures, and service capabilities with the aim of writing and retaining accounts.
  • Deliver premier customer service to all clients, adhere to service standards, and collaborate with internal partners to achieve corporate objectives; may assist in training less experienced team members.
  • Identify and communicate evolving underwriting practices that could impact the book and share insights with the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of underwriting experience in workers’ compensation and/or casualty insurance, or in a commercial multi-line product line, or relevant agency experience.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU or ARM are a plus.
  • Proven marketing and presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of state workers’ compensation rules and regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a focus on delivering superior customer service.
  • Highly motivated and results-driven.
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driver’s license.
