Decatur Book Festival is seeking a creative Marketing and Social Media Coordinator to steward its communications channels, craft engaging social content, and keep the festival website up to date with session and author details ahead of the October 2-3, 2026 event. This hybrid, part-time contract role focuses on growing audience engagement and coordinating media advertising for one of the region's premier literary events.
Responsibilities
- Design graphics and write content across DBF's social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn), with about 1-3 posts per week
- Develop, manage, and execute a content strategy aligned with DBF's mission, identity, and marketing goals
- Track social media metrics, analyze performance data, and report growth, engagement, and insights to refine strategy
- Manage website updates for the upcoming festival
- Monitor, manage, and build engagement on social media channels
- Post live from festival events as needed, including the October 2-3, 2026 festival
- Fulfill media and sponsor advertising partnership agreements
- Engage with direct messages and comments
- Develop DBF communications, including monthly newsletters
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders
- 1-2+ years of experience managing social media
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp
- Comfort working with basic website updates
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a consistent posting schedule
- Strong familiarity with digital platforms and social media best practices
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Responsive and thoughtful customer-service mindset

Compensation
Pay starts at USD 20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Location
Hybrid remote in Decatur, GA 30030.
Position Type
Part-time, contract role. Expect roughly 10-15 hours per week during the peak festival season (July through October) and about 8-10 hours per week in the off-season.
