Marketing Operations & Event Manager
Job Description
Mecum Auctions is the world’s largest collector car auction company, known for premium experiences that connect buyers, sellers, and enthusiasts. This role offers a solid benefits package and a clear opportunity to shape lifecycle marketing and on-site activations across auctions and non-auction events. The position is onsite in Walworth, Wisconsin (ZIP 53184) with up to 50% travel, and compensation starts from $60,000 per year.
As the Lifecycle Marketing & Events Manager, you will own the marketing email calendar, oversee communications tied to auctions and sponsorships, and lead branded activations at auctions and other events. This role combines data-driven email operations with hands-on event execution to strengthen Mecum’s brand presence.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage Mecum’s marketing email calendar
- Review and approve emails produced by support staff
- Ensure all email campaigns (single-car, group-car, collection eblast), auction communications, and marketing requests are properly calendared and deployed on schedule
- Develop and manage select email campaigns through all stages of execution
- Create and send sponsored eblasts aligned with partner deliverables
- Build auction-specific data extensions and customer segments for pre-auction communications, including ticket buyers, at-auction bidders, and consignors
- Create data extensions and segments as needed, including pageviewer and auction close data segments
- Support miscellaneous segmentation and reporting requests
- Provide article posting support during team PTO coverage
- Research and identify events for sponsorship, brand visibility, and experiential marketing opportunities
- Plan, staff, execute, and manage Mecum brand activations at non-auction events
- Manage Adventure Zone operations and staffing at auctions in partnership with the bidder services team
- Execute activations in alignment with contractual sponsorship deliverables
- Coordinate with partners to ensure proper branding, placement, staffing, and guest experience
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for partner activation needs
- Lead activation setup, live operation, and breakdown when the logistics manager is unavailable
- Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure flawless execution
- Report on event costs, attendance, and ROI from event participation
Requirements
- 3+ years in marketing operations, CRM/email marketing, events, or sponsorship activations
- Strong experience with campaign calendars, segmentation, and email deployment workflows
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines across auction cycles and live events
- Excellent communication and partner management skills
- Comfortable working on-site at events and leading activation execution
- Automotive, lifestyle, or live event experience strongly preferred
