Job Description

The District Executive (Sales & Marketing) for Moraine Trails Council, BSA, is based in Butler, Pennsylvania, and leads fundraising, volunteer development, program expansion, and community partnerships to support youth programs, with occasional meetings in Lawrence and Armstrong Counties.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a volunteer committee and local community and business leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide, and inspire involvement in youth programs.
  • Advance defined goals including program development through collaborative relationships, volunteer recruitment and training, fundraising, and membership growth and retention.
  • Extend program reach to religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community-based organizations through volunteers.
  • Secure adequate financial support for programs in the assigned area and achieve income and participation targets for camps and activities.
  • Recruit leadership for fundraising campaigns to meet the organization's financial needs.
  • Ensure program sites are served by volunteers through regular leader meetings, training events, and activities.
  • Collaborate with adult volunteers and oversee training outcomes for their respective roles.
  • Model professional behavior, cultivate relationships with other professionals and volunteers, and clearly communicate the program's goals to the public.
  • Provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, and ongoing training events and activities.
  • Willingness and ability to devote long and irregular hours to achieve council and district objectives.

Requirements

  • Commit to Boy Scouts of America leadership and membership standards and adhere to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; transcripts indicating degree conferment are required.
  • Age 21 or older, unless prohibited by applicable law.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one to two weeks.
  • Scouting background is helpful but not required.
  • Employment offers are contingent on criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.
  • Own a reliable vehicle to travel to meetings and activities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds to load volunteer vehicles during the annual popcorn sale; light to medium physical demands apply.

Desired Skills

  • Strong marketing, fundraising, and program development experience is highly valued.
  • Non-profit, fundraising, or sales experience is advantageous.
  • Comfort with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences; excellent people skills, enthusiasm, punctuality, responsibility, and creativity.
  • Self-motivated with solid time management and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
  • Committed to personal and professional productivity while upholding high ethical and professional standards.

Education

Education required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
